Please note this post is not meant to make light of the deeds described here, only to make fun of, ridicule, bully and just plain beat the shit out of the idiots who commit these stupid acts.
I’m light again on WTF Wednesday this week and the reason is facebook. I haven’t been on facebook a lot lately, quite truthfully I’m getting frustrated with the way it keeps changing, I can’t keep up with it. I need a social media class. 🙁
So first, a big WTF to facebook. Why do you keep changing? Can’t you just leave things be? I really, really liked the old facebook.
WTF?
Dog viciously attacked by group of canines at Nanaimo park, Vancouver, BC
I can’t imagine what was going through this woman’s mind as she saw her dog attacked by a pack of dogs.
What kind of idiot(s) stand by and watches while their dog(s) attacks another dog and never checks on the other dog to see if it’s alright.
Irresponsible ones, that’s who.
It is people like this, that take no responsibility for training or managing their dog, that give dog owners a bad rap. If I was this woman, I’d be going back to that park EVERY day with my camera, and I’d be watching people arriving and leaving with their dogs. Then I’d make sure animal control stepped in and removed that dog from its owner.
You and I both know, some people are just too ignorant to own dogs.
Whoo Hoo
Connecticut shelter dog saves baby’s life, Portland, CT
I first saw this story on my local news station. I meant to share it last week and I totally forgot.
Duke the dog was rescued about six years ago. Always a respectful and well-trained dog one night he went into his owner’s bedroom and jumped up on the bed, which was something he never did.
He was shaking so bad, his owners got up to check things out and discovered their nine week-old baby, Harper was not breathing. Thankfully paramedics were able to revive Harper and the story had a happy ending.
Throughout the news story, the mom kept talking about what a special dog he was, my favorite part was when her voice breaking she said, “I tell him all the time you were born in mommy’s heart.”
It gives new meaning to the phrase, “Who rescued who?” Doesn’t it?
A quick note.
Don’t forget the calendar photo contest coming your way very soon!
A couple of you asked in the comments if you can submit photos of pets that have already gone to the bridge. I would say, yes. The photo (if chosen for the calendar) will name the pet, the blog and their favorite rescue organization.
Did I miss any WTF or Whoo Hoo posts this week? Please share in the comments.

Duke is amazing and shows just how intuned us dogs can be!!
Jodi Stone says
It’s nice to see some positive stories in the news, isn’t it. A rescued dog that saves a life, it doesn’t get better than that!
2 brown dawgs says
That first story is the reason that I am not a fan of dog parks. Now that dog will probably need work to make it OK with other dogs again. Good for Duke!
Jodi Stone says
I totally get that. We don’t much do dog parks either, although we have in the past. Thankfully our experience is that the dog owners are responsible, but as you know everyone has their own ideas of what’s the proper behavior from dogs. 🙂
I agree that he may need so assistance, it’s too bad.
Animalcouriers says
We’re with you on the facebook thang, only problem now is which old facebook did you like? 😉 Good for Duke and to hell with irresponsible dog owners 🙁
Jodi Stone says
Man the facebook I liked was a looooooooooooooooooong time ago! LOL
I’m with you on the rest.
Sam says
Just one more reason not to go to the dog park. We have one next to where I take Sam for agility. I’ve noticed several people dropping their dogs off and going to play with their kids elsewhere in the park. It scares me.

Jodi Stone says
OMG that would never fly with me, I’d have to say something! LOL
Jen@MyBrownNewfies says
The story about the rescue dog and the shelter is so heartwarming! Dogs are angels!
Jodi Stone says
Yes they are!
Kristine says
Love the second story and I love that they took the time to mention the dog had been adopted from a shelter. Yay for more positive rescue dog PR!
Jodi Stone says
Yup, I loved it too! Finally good to see some positive dog stories on the news.
Jen says
Calendar photo contest? I did forget! Or didn’t see the initial mention.
I heard about the shelter dog saving the baby. A definite Woohoo!
Jodi Stone says
There will be a big write-up and lots of reminders. 🙂 I hope to have it up some time next week.
Al Hood says
I’ll keep my eye out about the calendar contest.
Jodi Stone says
Thanks Al, will you enter Queenie?
Julie says
That poor dog in the first story – I’ve never been to a dog park where NO ONE would step in to help break up a fight, that’s horrible. 🙁 The Woohoo story is awesome and a total heart warmer 🙂 Thank you!
Jodi Stone says
I know both Hubby and I would step in and then I would track that owner down…..LOL
Love the story about the Dukey Dog, that’s what she called him. So sweet.
Pamela | Something Wagging This Way Comes says
Many trainers have only negative thing to say about dog parks because of the kinds of melees described in the first story.
For myself, I only take Honey to the dog park early in the morning when the people are more interested in supervising their dogs than in socializing. And if there are more than a dozen dogs, we leave. I don’t trust my ability to keep her safe if the group gets too large.
I hope Russells has a fast recovery and doesn’t suffer too much trauma in the future.
Jodi Stone says
We did do the dog park the year we had mad amounts of snow but the majority of the people were very responsible. Since we started using the park up the street I’m perfectly content not to go to a dog park.
Yes, I do hope Russells recovers quickly.
Doggy's Style says
I read the article about Duke on facebook, was really nice.
What a beautiful place that on your pic, I would love to a creek like that around here, Doggy would be the happiest dog on earth.
Jodi Stone says
Doggy would love it, it’s a beautiful place. That is one of my all time favorite pictures of Hubby and Sampson. I had it made into a canvas photo that hangs on the wall.
Long Life Cats and Dogs says
Always love these posts. Adore the one where the dog saves the child. Such a special moment! Irresponsible dog owners – well, couldn’t agree with you more.
Calendar contest – looking forward to it – just have to find the right pic (soooo many to go through) 🙂
Georgia Little Pea says
I don’t go on FB much these days so didn’t realise they’d changed again. I find it very annoying. Just as you get used to something, it morphs or disappears.
jan says
I’ve stopped going on Facebook because like you i don’t like change and every time I go there it’s like learning all over. And I have no patience.
Tanya @ Mazzie Takes Manhattan says
OMG – you have no idea about the size of the floodgates you just opened!!!! I’ll check you original post re the calendar for rules/instructions and will try to exercise some restraint when I send you photos of Mazzie. Also, I don’t care what anyone else says, but I think that Sampson & Delilah should most definitely be on the cover.
Toby says
This is why my peoples never take me to dog parks. I get picked on as it is, and they are afraid dogs will gang up on me.
I read about that dog Duke on another blog. Way to go pal! What would be a kicker is if his old peoples got rid of him because they were having a kid…
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
I agree with 2 Brown Dawgs, not a fan of dog parks and I would not let my dogs run loose in one with other dogs, it sounds like it only took that one dog to start a pack mentality domino effect, how unfortunate for Russell and his owner.
I love to hear about such great stories like Dukes 🙂
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
ps I think I am one of the few who like the new fb…lol
