Since Sampson was sidelined with a soft tissue injury we’ve had to modify our walking schedule. Hubby’s been really great, helping out with walking the dogs.
By the time Hubby gets home from work, it’s too dark to walk in our woods, so we mostly walk around the block.
While Sampson’s been recuperating, fall has slowly crept up on us, and the days have gotten considerably shorter.
We’ve missed our woods.
It was a gorgeous day here yesterday, a wee bit on the chilly side, but lovely none-the-less.
If you’ve never experienced fall in New England, well you don’t know what you’re missing.
Crisp, cool weather, perfect for sweatshirts, fireplaces and hot toddies.
And the colors, the colors will take your breath away.
The day was so beautiful I just couldn’t control myself.
I had to do it.
I prepped the dogs and we hit the trail.
They sniffed.
They listened.
They looked.
They ran.
We enjoyed the beauty of the woods. Did you do something enjoyable this weekend?Β What’s your favorite thing to do with your dogs?

We don’t have much color, or even much of an autumn, here in the desert. We did take the boys north last week and got to experience some of the turning colors. It was beautiful!
Sam
It’s not like we don’t have color in spring and summer, I think autumn is just SO bold, that it’s prettier.
Glad you got a chance to enjoy the some of the beauty of fall. π Have a great rest of your weekend.
Some day I would really like to make it out there to see the fall colors – my hubby is on his way to Virginia and I really wanted to tag along, but I couldn’t π The trees don’t seem to realize that it is fall here – not much color yet, and the rain started on Friday. I love fall, it’s my favorite time of year! We made it out to the dog park yesterday and only got sprinkled on. π
Glad you only got sprinkled on!
Too bad you couldn’t go with Hubby, I bet it’s beautiful there right now!
Ah, I would love to experience fall in New England. We get lots of pretty colors here in the PNW but I imagine you have that at a whole new level. It looks like you and the dogs had a wonderful walk and with trails, woods, and nature like that, it would be hard not to. Hugs to Sampson and I hope he is completely mended soon.
Thanks for the well wishes Shoes.
If you ever get up this way during fall, we’d love to have you join us on one of our walks. π
I’d love to see some of the colors of the PNW. π
Gorgeous! It’s rainy here, but leaves are turning and I’m anxious to get out there to enjoy it with Jeffie and Rudy π
It’s amazing to look at the colors, I hope you Jeffie and Rudy get out there Sue.
It’s still in the 80’s here and all is still green so I will just enjoy your fall colors.
Do you like it warm? I’m not fond of 80’s, now 70’s, that’s perfect weather for me!
Nice pictures! I too enjoy fall and the changing colors.
I bet it’s pretty where you are Mary Ann! As pretty as New England. π
We lived in Massachusetts for two years, and my husband was there for two more before that. I miss fall, and I miss the sound of it snowing. I do not miss ice, being cold for six months (I never could get used to how uncomfortable it was *indoors*), or shoveling snow. We also just didn’t fit in at all.
I hear that, after a couple of months I’m done with winter too! Did you ever get up to the Mohawk Trail? It’s so beautiful up there, we went once a number of years ago.
Looks like a nice walk, love the first picture of the trees and there colors.
Thanks JoAnn, it’ one of my favorite pictures, I have it in my digital frame. π Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
This weekend we are all holed up because we are dog sitting for two of our family-peoples’ dogs and The One Called Donna has to stay on top of things around here. But fall is one of our favorite times of year – and I really enjoyed the trip to Lake George last weekend with my peoples (despite learning that Meadow is a Zombie like Leah).
It’s about time you got a vacation Toby. Although I have to say, finding out that Meadow is a Zombie is very disturbing.
It’s hard to resist having an extended walk when the weather is so gorgeous!! Fall is coming pretty quickly too in Virginia, and I can’t resist taking the dogs up onto the field in back of us where they’re building the house. Soon we won’t be able to go up there, so I am considering it our last hurrah!
For me it’s perfect weather Kim. I bet you are enjoying the field. Will the new neighbors be living there full-time, or will you perhaps be able to sneak up there during the winter months? π
That first photo is amazing!! We have great change of season here in Michigan too, I love the colors of fall and all that goes with it!
Looks like Sampson and Delilah were trying to make up for lost time π
ps so glad you have your computer back π
OMG – I have yet to see that kind of color in the city. Maybe Mazzie and I can find some next weekend in Central Park…. that being said, it only started getting chilly here a few days ago, so maybe it’s too soon.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you and your dogs take your walks in such beautiful places!!!! Hard pressed to find space like that in the city. That being said, my favorite thing to do with Mazzie is to walk her along the Hudson River on a clear and crisp day. I especially enjoy when we stop on a bench to watch passersby and she INSISTS on sitting on my lap.
Woof! Woof! FUN lovely walk. We are missing soooo much our favorite weather. FALL. Golden Thanks for the photographs … made us smile. Happy SUNDAY. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
What an absolutely gorgeous weekend!
Looks really lovely!!
We had rain. Lots. π Beautiful pictures. So is Sampson off rest?
These are some really beautiful pictures! I think I would LOVE to go for a walk in the woods! π
Woofs & huggies, <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
Looks like a beautiful walk.
I want to like fall. Intellectually I appreciate the colors and the sound of crinkly leaves. But the cold and dark is very hard on me. If it weren’t for having a dog to force me out, I’d probably hibernate like a bear and miss the whole thing. π
