For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.
You know sometimes you post about something and you need an update but it doesn’t warrant a whole blog. Or sometimes someone made a comment that really resonated with you. Yup, Follow-Up Friday baby!
Please feel free to grab the badge and join me in recapping or wrapping up your week. It doesn’t matter if you do it every week or just once in a while.
I find myself a little light on the Follow-Up Friday post today. Do you think that means I’m actually becoming a better blogger and covering everything I need to in the initial posts.
NAH, me either! I think I just got lucky this week. 🙂
Happy Birthday My Love – Author’s Note
Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes for Sampson. He had a pretty decent day. I took him for a long walk Monday morning and I made sure to put some watermelon in his Kong for his night-time treat.
For some reason my posts never come out quite as good on the blog as they sound in my head. 🙁 I actually downloaded a recording app for my phone so when I think of something I can immediately record it.
The post in my head was WAY better than the post I actually wrote, but unfortunately I didn’t use the recording app so it’s lost forever. Or at least until the next time I think of it.
I do have one question for you, does anyone else get sad on their pet’s birthday? For some reason the older he gets the sadder I am on this special day.
How Do You Train Two Dogs? – Author’s Note
Most of you already figured out it’s best to separate the dogs, I just don’t know why I didn’t think of it!
So how was your week? Did you accomplish everything you set out to? I know I didn’t. 🙁

I thought your post about Sampson’s birthday was lovely. But the same thing happens to me on occasion. I have a post all sort of written in my head and when I actually sit down to type…nothing. I chalk it up to a case of CRS.
I had a weird week. I was all set to sit down and catch up on blog reading last night and then my car needed an unexpected repair. Of course with no appointment, it took forever and a day. But it is fixed. I was too exhausted from all of that sitting to catch up much last night. 😆
Jodi Stone says
I hear that! I finally cleaned out my google reader, I don’t know if I’ll ever catch up on comments though. 🙂
Ugh, unexpected repairs, I hate those. And waiting for them to be completed stinks! I haven’t figured out the google reader on my phone yet. 🙂
2browndawgs says
I need to figure out a lot of things on my phone, especially how to find the news feed on my blog FB page. I can only seem to find my own postings. Maybe I need to find a different app.
The repair was under warranty, so at least all it cost was my time. 🙂

What nice offer – there are a few folks who have nice ’round-ups’, ‘wrap-ups’ or ‘follow-ups’ that I’ve often thought would be a great idea to emulate but it kind of feels like stealing someone else’s idea. Now I can do so without the guilt! 😉
As for your posts, I think they always come out great! But yes, I can related. My head keeps me up at night sometimes formulating my thoughts for future posts. I REALLY like your idea of a voice-recorder to get the ideas out of my head and saved for another day. And, while I love my iPad, it would be so much easier and faster to speak it than to type it. So, I’m stealing this idea as well. 😉
And since I missed it earlier this week, Happy (belated) Birthday, Sampson!!! Sounds like you had a fabulous day. 🙂
Jodi Stone says
Awe, you are too kind! Feel free please to use anything you see here. We are all a community helping each other out. 🙂 The recorder app is pretty awesome, I formulate many of my posts when I am walking and then I get busy when I get home and boom, they are gone!
Doggy's Style says
I just read the post about Sampson’s bday and honest to Zeus, I think someone was chopping onions in my office lol.
Jodi Stone says
Aw, thank you. That is very sweet!
Jen says
My posts always sound way better in my head too, I don’t know what is up with that!
I like your follow Friday up Friday posts, I have a lot of follow ups I should be doing, but I don’t know if I could post them every Friday because I am a scatter brain!
Jodi Stone says
Thanks Jen! I don’t understand how it sounds so good in my head, but then peters out in the written form.
As for FUF you don’t have to do it every week, just when you want. 🙂

I think all of us have the “words in my head are better than the printed word” problem. But your words always sound really good to me. I also feel guilty for not responding to every comment like you do.
Jodi Stone says
Thank you Jan, maybe it is just the insecurity that comes with being a writer. 🙂
I don’t always get to every comment and then I feel bad. But the more I do, the more I need to do! LOL

I thought your Sampson post was perfect. It said a lot about who you are and your relationship with your dog. We are all our own worst critics. This is one of the reasons I almost never go back and re-read my posts. Once I’ve hit publish I move on.
I get a little sad on my dog’s birthday as well. It’s hard to believe she is already four! I try not to think about the years rapidly passing and just enjoy the moment, but it’s not easy.
Jodi Stone says
Thank you Kristine, sometimes I do re-read them and say ‘damn I’m good’ or ‘man that sucked’ LOL Yes we are our own worst critics!
I was so sad on his birthday, eight years already. Where did it go?
Tanya @ Mazzie Takes Manhattan says
Re getting sad on your dog’s birthday, I completely get it because it happens to me all of the time. It usually happens when someone asks me how long I’ve had Mazzie or how old she is and I can’t believe that we’ve been together nearly 3 years and that she’s 3+ years old.
Our time together to date as flown by far too quickly!!!! This fact makes me pray all the more every day that she will live a LONG, HEALTHY life and has forced to set aside a few peaceful minutes every day where I just enjoy being in her presence. Those peaceful minutes with her on a bench overlooking the Hudson River, in the park watching squirrels or on a stoop on our block watching the day go by are the best part of my day, hands down.
Jodi Stone says
That’s so sweet Tanya, I’m getting teary. 🙂 I think this is why I treasure our walks so much, he is so so happy running on the trail, it makes my heart swell. And also why when I wake up in the night and his head is on my shoulder and I cannot move a muscle, I just smile, reach out and stroke him and close my eyes.
Precious moments are just that. And my puppies are precious to me. 🙂
Georgia Little Pea says
Haha! You MUST be getting more organised at posting 😉 I still haven’t done the ironing yet but apart from that, I’ve done pretty much everything I wanted to this week. Have a great weekend!
Jodi Stone says
I doubt that! LOL I’ve been so unproductive lately. :0 At least you are getting things completed!
Dogs N Pawz says
I think your Follow-Up Friday is a great idea! And like everybody else, I totally understand about posts not turning out as good as the ones in your head! I drove to Wichita a few days ago–takes about 2 1/2 hours–and had a whole awesome book written in my head! Haven’t put it on paper cause I’m sure it won’t turn out as good on paper as it was in my head!!!!!
Have a great weekend!
Jodi Stone says
Well thank you very much. Feel free to join in whenever the mood strikes! Did you write down any of the story? My story has been so out of my mind lately I’ve almost forgotten what it’s about. :0
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. Happy weekend!
Donna and the Dogs says
Jodi – I always enjoy your posts and think they are well written. You’re too hard on yourself sometimes. The only one of my dog’s birthday’s that I actually know is Toby’s, and yes, I do get sad on that day now that he is getting older. 🙁
Jodi Stone says
Thanks Donna, I think it is writer’s doubt. LOL Yes, I find myself thinking very macabre thoughts. I am terrified of losing him.
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
Yup definitely have those moments with a great blog post in my head but gets lost in the translation lol
I thought your post on Sampson was wonderful!! And you write quite well, I am envious 😉
I try not to think about how old they are but it is a big reminder on their birthdays. And the other day a huge reminder when Cheyenne was actually a little sore after training but she gave it her all and waited till later when we were home to let me know she worked hard. So I guess I might have to tone it down a bit with her.
A phone app for recording I will definitely have to look for that one
