Surprise! My WTF Wednesday is directed at my own house. 🙂
First at Hubby.
What? (He doesn’t read this blog so he’s not even going to know I’m doing it. Judge me if you want. I’m rubber you’re glue it bounces off me and sticks to you.)
When I say we’re going to bed, why do you get up and get your snack?
W.T.F? Don’t you know you’re hungry before then? Or is there something magical in the words we’re going to bed that instantly make you hungry?
I’m not like you, I can’t fall asleep in the blink of an eye. And you coming to bed a half hour later than Sampson, Delilah and I do is disruptive.
It means everyone shifts positions and if I’ve been lucky enough to fall asleep BEFORE you come in, then I’m woken up and have to get the dogs comfortable again.
Maybe I just have to tell you I’m going to bed a half hour before I’m actually ready.
Yeah, that’s it. That might remedy the situation.
AND Delilah, you didn’t think you were going to get out of this post did you?
Listen, a lot of dogs don’t even have a pillow on the floor, nevermind a sleep comfort bed. Just because you didn’t get your spot on the bottom of the bed last night does not give you the right to sit at the end of the bed and bark until someone moves!
W.T.F?
How many times have you heard me say I can’t sleep or seen me get up in the middle of the night and move into the other room?
Really Delilah, I think just once you could have sucked it up and slept up near the head of the bed.
Just once.
Besides you know Sampson is going to get off the bed within an hour or two.
Is it too much to ask for consideration from your fellow bed mates?
Thank you.
Tomorrow you will be returned to your regularly scheduled blog post.
Cassie says
I say make em sleep in the living room! It’s warmer/cooler there anyway 😉
Jodi says
LOL. I like having them with me. 🙂
Donna and the Dogs says
Ha ha Jodi – great way to change it up. Hmmmm…..for some reason, I don’t think you got much sleep last night, huh? 🙂
Jodi says
Actually I slept much better than I normally do. I just wish it had been longer! LOL
Frankie Furter and Ernie says
You do KNOW that if you move to the Other Room… “THEY” will soon Follow… don’t you?
Now about that Late night Snack…. I say… Set a TIMER to go off 45 mins. before you plan to go to bed… Gotta at those extra mins. fur Set up and Clean Up. ASK me how I know about this one…. Go ahead… ASK… butt I’ll bet you can GUESS.. OK… did you guess EXPERIENCE??? You would be RIGHT!!! My mom actually did put my DAD on the Snack Timer Plan… Years ago… took two weeks to get the point across… butt it DID WORK.
Jodi says
It would be fine if one of them came with me and one stayed with Hubby!
Thanks for the advice Frankie! I will be sure to implement the snack plan tonight. Did you tell your mom how smart she is.
Mary Ann says
I don’t understanding the snacking before bedtime thing. My hubby does that too! Don’t they know that is not healthy?
Jodi says
Apparently not! LOL I snack too, but I try to do it before bed time. I just don’t understand why he doesn’t know he’s hungry! LOL
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
Yup agree timer plan! Love the photo 🙂
Jodi says
Thanks Misty, I will start tonight. 😉 She’s a cute girl, isn’t she?
Georgia Little Pea says
Are you absolutely positively sure The Man doesn’t read your blog? They can be devious lurkers you know.
Jodi says
I’ll be in deep you know what if he does…..LOL
Jen says
Ha-ha! My husband doesn’t read my blog either unless someone alerts him that he is featured on it, and believe me that has happened more than once!
I always give my hubby the count down of when I am going to bed. He can only fall asleep with the TV on and I can only fall asleep with it off!
Jodi Stone says
Trust me, no-one that I know who would alert him reads this blog. Honestly I’m not even sure my kids (with the exception of my youngest) reads this blog.
I used to need the TV on, but that has changed and I can sleep without it, except the Olympics are coming and I am obsessed with them, so the TV will be on well into the wee hours of the morning. 🙂
Jan says
Have you tried just locking them all out and leaving them to their own devices until they shape up? You know, tough love.
Jodi Stone says
Well I think that will be when I move into the other room. As soon as I get it organized I think that’s where I’m heading. I could probably handle one dog in there with me, but not two. Although the last time Delilah was in there with me, she growled everytime I moved my feet. 🙂
Mel says
LOL! That was an awesome rant. What’s up with that late night feeding and barking anyways? Glad I am single and my dogs sleep on the floor! 🙂
Loved the pic with the sleep mask. Totally made me laugh.
Jodi Stone says
Thanks Mel, Delilah is a very demanding dog, when she doesn’t get what she wants she has no problem letting you know!
2browndawgs says
Oh no…someone sounds sleep deprived. 🙂 Love that picture of Delilah!
Jodi Stone says
Yes, I am sleep deprived most nights. Damn menopause, it is kicking my butt!
Doggy's Style says
When I’m off to bed I say it out loud “people I’m closed for business” it never works tho 🙁
Jodi Stone says
LOL Doggy, Sampson just usually goes to bed when he’s ready. But he’s not at all like me, he can fall right back to sleep very easily. Sleep and I have become frenemies these last 10 years. 🙁
Kristine says
That eye mask is fantastic. Please tell me she sleeps with that on every night. It would make my day.
I can’t believe he doesn’t read your blog. What’s up with that? Even my husband does from time to time, which is why I have to be careful! 😉
Jodi Stone says
Kristine, I wish I could tell you she wears it every night. I could work on that though, wouldn’t that be priceless? LOL
Yeah, he doesn’t read the blog, I guess that explanation would be for a sit down conversation. 🙂 I think we may have to work on that!
I know your husband reads yours, heck you’ve even had him guest post and interview, that impresses me!!
Kirsten says
Those husband-like figures are a lost cause sometimes, aren’t they. Florian watches bad movies on Netflix, in bed, most every night starting right when I’m getting sleepy. I’m so used to sleep deprivation that I haven’t insisted on an alternative arrangement…I like the sleep/snack timer thing though!
Jodi Stone says
Lucky for me I have a spare room and I’m getting pretty close to moving into it! LOL I don’t know what it is, I thought as you got older you went to bed earlier, but not my husband!
Married with Dawgs says
Unfortunately the Hubster reads my blog so I must be careful. Can’t a wife get some privacy with her blog friends on the interwebs???
Jodi Stone says
You can get it here! LOL He won’t look here. 🙂
Pamela Webster (@S_Wagging) says
Oh, so funny. And so true.
I’ve had the same hubby complaint as you. And certainly Honey sometimes channels her inner Delilah.
Here’s wishing you a good night’s sleep. 🙂
Jodi Stone says
It is so difficult coordinating sleep schedules. It used to be that he got up at 3:30 so he was in bed by 9:00 every night, but back then it was just me crawling in beside him. Now that both dogs sleep with us it’s just not that easy to sneak into bed. 🙂
BTW, did you bring Mike with you or are you enjoying a bed all to yourself?
Al says
Loved this post, Jodi. I am one of the come-to-bed-laters but my wife is such a sound sleeper she doesn’t care. If Queenie is already on her cushy bed in our room she barely moves when I come in, but usually she is hanging out with me until I get to bed.
My wife doesn’t like Queenie on the bed, but when she goes visiting Queenie jumps right up. She knows I’m a softy.
Great picture of Delilah.
Jodi says
Thanks Big Al, it needed to be said, you know? LOL
We love it when Hubby goes away, then there are no issues. We all get our spots and no-one is disrupted.
I love that you let Queenie up when Patty is gone. I knew you were a soft touch. 🙂
Bassas Blog says
The picture is just too funny Jodi! 🙂
