Since the beginning of March every weekend Hubby and I have been working at our old house getting it ready for new tenants. Fingers crossed they move in next month. 🙂
I try to keep my time over there to one day per weekend, usually Saturday. Most Saturdays once I am up and have had a cup of coffee, I’m heading over to the other house. Every three or four Saturdays I have to pick up dog food which makes for a crazy day.
Since my Saturdays are so jam-packed, that means all the household chores I typically spread out over two days, get done (or not) on Sundays.
To say this schedule is wearing on our household is an understatement.
And Sampson let me know exactly how mad he was yesterday, and in no uncertain terms.
Sampson is good dog. Besides his long walks in the woods, he likes nothing better than hanging out with his peeps. In fact, if Hubby is outside in the front yard working on his jeep or working in the garage, Sampson can be found hanging out in the driveway.
He’s also very smart. Last week he was hanging outside at dinner time. I stepped out the door and he looked at me. I said, “It’s time for dinner.” He followed me into the house.
Yesterday he was a good dog gone mad.
It was my day to run for dog food. I was on the road by 8:30. I drove 35 minutes to get dog food, then headed home stopping at Trader Joe’s on my way back to pick up groceries for the next three weeks. I got back to our place about 10:20, unloaded the dog and people food and turned around to head out to the other house.
As is my habit, I give the dogs their garlic tablets as I walk out. I pretend they are treats and the dogs humor me.
I tossed Jaw’s Delilah’s at her and handed Sampson his. He turned his head.
I moved the garlic tablet under his nose and he turned his head again.
I pushed the tablet into his mouth and he spit it out at me. Three times.
I gave Delilah her second one and offered the other tablet to Sampson again. Again he turned his head.
I threw the tablets in the trash and left.
I plan on wrapping it up at the other house next Saturday morning.
AFTER I walk the dogs.

Hey Sampson and Delilah, You should do what I (Frankie Furter) do… I get Mr. Chewy to SEND my foods to my house… that frees up more time fur my mom and dad… to do OTHER THINGYS … FUR ME.

Nothing worse than the cold shoulder treatment from the fur babies, good thing they are very forgiving 😉

Sometimes it becomes necessary for dogs to teach their humans a lesson. Samson is actually a very intelligent and gentle teacher and you seem to be a good student.
And yes, we find Mr. Chewy to be a wonderful way to get food.

Ah Sampson. I guess he figured the time had come to put his paw down and lay down the law.
I love that picture of him waiting in the driveway and the caption made me laugh!

They are so good at making us feel guilty, aren’t they? Big stinker!
Georgia Little Pea says
And this is why we get Georgia’s kibble delivered to our doorstep and her treats posted to us. Of course there are a squillion other things to distract us which could end up in her spitting the dummy. Our dogs have us wrapped around their little toes.

I guess Sampson needed a little extra attention. 🙂

I would of done the same thing! 3 strikes and your done!
Leroy does this to me sometimes, but I put the pills or whatever in his food. He’s fine for a couple of days and then he goes on strike and refuses to eat his breakfast and I wind up throwing away 2 cups of dog food and then Leroy gets a lecture on how expensive dog food is….and then he gets sent to his room:)

lol lil stinker sampson. My dogs LOVE their food when I sprinkle the garlic on it. They spend like 5 extra minutes licking their bowl. I am cheap too and if Luna was being picky with her food she got it again at night, even if it was semi soft as I had put water in it. My food cost too much for me to throw it out. In the end she does eat it, and these days she never turns it down anyhow. Hope your boy takes his garlic soon!
Side note, be careful near the streets with your boy. A good Vizsla friend just lost her dog due to her running off after a bird while she was changing a seat in the car, and being hit by a car. She puts a lot of training into her dogs, but didn’t follow her own rules she gives to her clients. I am sure you are safe, just never can be too safe.
Hope things settle down for you all soon

You know you are in trouble when…
I hope you get everything wrapped up and the new tenants in soon. You have dealt with so much stress around that place. I am sure you are looking forward to a time when you can finally relax!

I’ glad to know Queenie isn’t the only lab that INSISTS on being with one or the other of us at all times! It probably helps to have a buddy like Sampson and Delilah but I think Queenie would still demand our attention as much. Labs are just the quintessential pack animal.

One of the great things about us Dogs is we’re straight to the point – no hinting about things we’re not happy with or hoping you’ll guess – it’s pretty clear when you need to change your ways!!
Love it Sampson 🙂
Here’s to the tenants moving in guys 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Try not to let it get to you – it was a minor blip in the big scheme of things 🙂

Well, I guess someone made his point! With all that you’ve got going on (hope things let up soon), you probably could have done without this episode. As the owner of a dog who’s a bit to smart for her good (with an indomitable will to boot), this type of interaction is fairly commonplace for me. The vast majority of time I work through things with her, but sometimes, for both her and my sanity, I just let it go.
