Thursday night is traditionally our obedience class at The Mellow Mutt. This past Thursday Hubby was planning on working late, so we decided instead of rushing about trying to get ready, we would skip class and give the dogs a quick walk around the block.
Except the dogs didn’t know this, so when I got home Delilah was revved up and ready to go. She brought me her toy and while I knew there were things I should be doing I felt bad, so I grabbed the toy and let her tug. Once I’d won the toy from her I tossed it down the hall and she ran to fetch.
Sampson lay on the floor watching. After the second toss, Delilah brought the toy back and we tugged again. Then Sampson got up and as I won the toy and tossed it, Sampson ran down the hall and fetched it. Then he and Delilah began their own tug of war which turned into some wrestling which resulted in about 15 minutes of play time.
Sitting on the floor watching them play brought a smile to my face and I thought, now why couldn’t they have figured this out on their own? 🙂
Book Update: The book is the same.

Haha then there would be no need for people. 🙂
They did it again tonight! LOL You’re right though, they would hunt and eat and run and play. 🙂
Because they have you! 😉
They bring me so much happiness Barb!
It always much more fun if everyone is involved! 🙂
Yes, it is fun. I just love how they look at me.
I know what you mean Jodi, I really love watching my 2 clowns tussle and wrastle and chase eachother, growling ferociously the whole time. The puppy usually initiates it by jumping on Molly’s back; she’s usually good natured about it, when she gets fed up she just jumps up to the back of the couch. Last week was a ‘first’ for Honey, she finally managed to jump up on the couch, she’s been trying since day 1. But Molly can still get away from her by jumping up to the top of the back of the couch.
That is so cute, but just wait, one day puppy will figure it out and watch out Molly!! LOL
That is so cute! I love the mental image of Sampson and Delilah playing and tugging together. It’s so wonderful they get along so well, like real siblings.
This is why I need a second dog, right here.
Oh yes you do! You would see, if you get another about the same size as Shiva, it would be fine. I can’t imagine if one of mine were a lot smaller than the other, it would be (IMO) a lot harder to handle.
Ditto what Kristine said! I have Lola over for a visit pretty frequently. I make sure to have two of everything out but they always want the toy that the other one has…even if the exact same toy is next to them. Then there is a lot of barking and chasing. Does that happen with your two also?
Yes, does happen the same way.
We do have two of everything but it doesn’t matter, when I give one to Delilah and one to Sampson, Delilah takes hers and then drops it and takes Sampsons. 🙂
Sampson will however beat her to the toy if I am throwing it, in that way he engages her in play. It is really such fun to watch. Do you find it enjoyable watching Sophie and Lola play?
