I’m sorry for the big black protest post you saw this morning. Well let me rephrase that, I’m sorry for not giving you notice that would be up this morning.
I have to admit, I am way behind in the times. I had no idea the Senate, who apparently have NO OTHER ISSUES to deal with, were working on a vote to limit our internet freedoms. While the idea of the bill does have some merit, the bill itself is far too broad.
I found out about the internet protest last night, after I had published my post. And after reading the posts from Rescued Insanity and Something Wagging This Way Comes, I followed Word Press’ instructions and joined the protest.
I hope if you visited this site and saw the protest, you took a moment to view the video. That’s all I ask, what you choose to do with that information is up to you.
I did have a little something dog related to share with you today. It falls into the “My Dog Makes Me Laugh” category.
The other night I was preparing dinner and Sampson and Delilah (those model dog citizens) were sitting in their respective areas on the edges of the kitchen. Hubby disappeared and I wasn’t sure in which direction he had gone. Dinner was ready and I looked at Sampson (who was looking at me) and I said, “Where’s Daddy?” Sampson turned his head in the direction of the bedroom and a few seconds later, Hubby came out. Which made me burst out laughing because it was so perfectly timed.
And like Sampson knew EXACTLY what I was saying. 🙂
I’m sure your pet makes you smile on a daily basis, but does he/she do something that makes you laugh?
Book Update : My book has 2,397 words

How cool!
I would have to say when Riva smiles at me 🙂

OMG, they are just the most precious things. I love them so much and they bring such joy. Why can’t more people understand what they are capable of?

I am a bit disappointed that some greedy corporate websites couldn’t be bothered to show any support against SOPA/PIPA, but I do have to say that today, I was proud to be part of the internet generation.
The biggest misconception that people hold is that these bills are about copyright at all. If they really cared much about copyright, they wouldn’t have tried to make it legal to steal copyrighted works whose owners you are too lazy to hunt down http://www.copyright.gov/orphan/
the big businesses are losing their control of all the sheeple while the free information mindset is growing ever stronger. we no longer have to go through miles of microfiche to read up on the inadequacies of the past, or thumb through long legal documents to learn our rights. their choke hold is finally loosening and i hope i live in the generation that kicks immoral, unjust, unethical corporate america in the ass.
i’m glad you support this too, mom 😀
Jodi Stone says
Hey baby, you know I’m all about kicking ass. Bring it on. I just don’t always know where to start!
Bongo says
Sometimes I have to laugh at what Bongo does – or I’d cry. I think he’s mellowing out though, now that he can take everything out on his blog.
Jodi Stone says
I would ask you, how old is Bongo and how long have you had him? Was he a rescue or did you get him as a puppy?
There are huge discrepancies with my dogs and I assign that to the fact Delilah came to us at a much older age (18 mos vs 2) and her background. She is still a loony tuney when it comes to food. If she knows you are heading her way to feed her she is a whirling, spinning, weaving 73 pounds of missile.
I have seen her mellow out some though….there is hope. Hang in there and keep training. You will see a difference!

Keep writing!

Will do Bassas!

Sadie barks whenever you use a certain voice. So you can ask her anything and she’ll bark. This makes for endless amusement and she’s just so tickled with herself. It makes me smile every time.
Jodi Stone says
That is awesome! I love it when Sampson cocks his head as if to say, “did I hear you right?” 🙂

The internet was a much less useful and entertainment-filled place yesterday, that’s for sure. Definitely gets you thinking about how badly these issues could affect us all, should any government be given that kind of control over what’s allowed and what isn’t. It makes me think of the book ‘Brave New World’, or ‘1984’, for that matter, with the idea that the government decides what you do, what you know to be true, and what you are allowed to learn. Though those are obviously a bit more drastic than what’s proposed, still – everything happens in baby steps, and it’s only when you look back that you realise how far you came – for good, or for bad.
Gwynn makes me laugh with whatever he does… but when he sees what I’m eating or making, and smacks his lips, that always cracks me up 🙂
Jodi Stone says
You are absolutely right. Little by little the government takes away our freedoms and we say nothing. Then all of a sudden one day we go, “Whoa, what the hell happened?” We need to stand firm and stand together to make a change.
Gwynn is so cute, I would probably laugh at everything he does too!
Jan says
It’s important for people to talk to their dogs. They can have really big vocabularies like “daddy” and “ball” and the important things in their lives.
Jodi Stone says
Oh I totally agree Jan, they are the best therapists in the world. 🙂
Kirsten says
Glad you took part–I think “the people” will be heard on this one!
Jodi Stone says
I hope so Kirsten!!

It was weird going to sites yesterday and finding them blacked out in support of the protest, mine included. It seems to have had a lot of support, so fingers crossed the bill doesn’t get passed.
I laughed out loud when I read what Sampson did, because our dog Poppy does that too! If I lose the hub, I just have to ask Poppy where he is and she looks at the room he’s gone into! Cute.
Jodi Stone says
I hope it doesn’t pass either. I was almost afraid to pop around. LOL
It amazes me the things they pick up and understand. How boring our lives would be without them!

About the protest, I did have to laugh about Wikipedia. Like the internet would close down without it…..lol. And hey it is just one more regulation in a very long list. I wish people had gotten so bent out of shape over Congress telling us which kinds of light bulbs we could buy, or mandating that we have to buy insurance, or requiring summer and winter gas that adds tremendous cost, and on and on.
Off my soapbox. 🙂
I think dogs do understand certain things you ask them. I bet Sampson knew exactly. Sometimes when we are trying to go to the cabin, kitty cat disappears. We ask Thunder where she is and he always shows us. 🙂
Jodi Stone says
Personally I think Congress has gotten WAY to big for their britches and Congress as our founding fathers established it is antiquated. We need a big overhaul in this country and I think Congress is the place to start.
Off my soapbox now too. 🙂
Didn’t someone do a post about how dogs can recognize something like 200 words? I’m not sure which ones they are, but I’m pretty sure they know a lot! LOL
