For those new to the blog, my follow-up Friday provides me with an opportunity to update or revise a post from the previous week.
You know sometimes you post about something and you need an update but it doesnโt warrant a whole blog.ย Or sometimes someone made a comment that really resonated with you.ย Yup, Follow-Up Friday baby! ๐
Heavens To Murphy – Update
Last I heard K was home from the hospital, when I checked with Sara she had heard NOTHING about them bringing Murphy to training classes.
I started thinking, I would love to take Murphy for a month or two (and charge them of course,) put her on a diet and bring her to some training classes.
It would be great if there was such a place where people COULD drop their dogs off for a couple of months and then maybe during the last week, the owners would join their dog.ย They would then see their dog and the ways their dog had changed and be SHOWN how to manage their dogs.
Sort of like a Doggie Boot Camp. ๐
When You’re Down – Update
The stomach bug came and went in very quick fashion.ย I was feeling much better the next morning and even managed to make it into work.
Thank you all for the good thoughts and well wishes.
One From The Bucket List – Author’s Note
I debated this post.ย Not because I’m not proud of my nephew, but because I normally write about the dogs.ย I originally started the post talking about the walk I took with the dogs in the morning, before my sister and I left.ย But I couldn’t get the post to flow.
I thought about and decided the name of my blog is Jodi Stone, I’m selling myself and my ability to draw an audience and weave a tale.ย The by-line is “Life With Sampson and Delilah” but the blog is mine.
Kristine from Rescued Insanity said it best in the comment she left on Pet Blogger Challenge, “What you said about your blog being all you, I really like that. Oddly, I never considered it that way before but I agree that it is such an awesome thing. Itโs your space on the Internet. You own it and can do with it as you see fit. If the sky is purple in Jodi-land then no one has a right to question you. I like that thought.”
I like that thought too, Kristine.ย So much in fact, you all might be hearing Jodi-land a LOT. ๐
Yesterday my friends, the world was very sunny in Jodi-land.
How was your week?
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
There are such places as that for training dogs, sounds like you should open Jodi’s Doggie Boot Camp ๐ And you really nailed it when you said bring the owners in the last week and show them the changes and how to work with the dog. I think that is key, you can train a dog all you want but if the owner dosn’t follow through or know how to properly continue then the dog will not perform for them the way they did for the trainer.
Jodi Stone says
I think you are right, it is key that 1) they see improvement but 2) learn how that was achieved. Empower them so they could do it themselves. It would be required they come and stay the last week. ๐
Donna and the Dogs says
I just read Murphy’s story – (I missed it earlier this week – good thing you have Follow up Friday!) and I’m glad that K is better. That’s a great idea about taking Murphy for a month. The hard part would be how to go about offering to do that without insulting anyone…
Jodi Stone says
Well I’m pretty sure Hubby wouldn’t let me do it, BUT if I was getting paid it might be something he would consider. ๐
Bassas Blog says
I like your idea of a doggie boot camp but I reckon it would be very hard work!
Jodi Stone says
Without a doubt Bassas, but with the right facility you could structure it so there were other things to do and the dogs wouldn’t get bored with training. ๐

Our trainer offers just such training as you described for Murphy. He does obedience in addition to retriever training. He always wants people to come out and work with their dogs. He offers training where the dog stays and works with him and then the owners come out the last week and get “trained”.
Jodi Stone says
I love that! Does he have a lot of people take him up on it? I know that Thunder and Storm go to their trainer for periods of time, but it is for retriever work.
I would think that type of service would be desirable for dog owners who feel lost, they can see the improvement in their dog and then learn how to achieve it themselves.
I love your trainer!
