Every night around 9 PM the dogs get their stuffed Kongs, after about 20 to 25 minutes of working at them, Hubby and I will offer to help, because sometimes those baby carrots get stuck together and they can’t work them out. ๐
My niece slept over last night in order for us to be up bright and early for our traditional Christmas shopping.ย ย Because she was here last night we deviated slightly from our routine.
Sampson apparently got tired of waiting for someone to come and help him and he brought his Kong out and threw it at my feet. ๐
Sampson absolutely adoresย my niece so he refused to go to bed when Hubby, Delilah and I headed off to dreamland.ย I would have thought I’d have a much better sleep without him plastered up against me in the bed, but that wasn’t the case.ย
I woke up with an aching back.ย I guess my sleep number is adjusted to accommodate an 85 pound lab.

LOL, thats funny I wouldn’t have thought of that.
Question for you on stuffing the kongs, I bought the puppies each one and the puppy stuffer stuff made by kong, since it is pastey stuff can they actually get all that kind of stuff out or is some left behind and if so is it hard to clean them?
Jodi Stone says
Misty, I think sometimes it depends on the dog. I’ve heard of some dogs that can clean them out, but usually when I am washing mine I stick my finger in there and rub it around and I’m still finding bits of cheese or pumpkin.
What I do because I use them at night is I try and throw them in some hot water and let them soak, then I take my using my finger I try to really clean them out. I was thinking a bottle brush might be useful in this task, or one of those bottle sponges that has a lot of ‘tentacles.’
I think the kong stuff would be hard to get out, but I haven’t used that for a while now. I use salomi, cheese and baby carrots most nights and frost the large end with pumpkin. I have also used the Yumkin and one night this past week I used pineapple chunks with yogurt frosting on the end.
I hope I helped! And how did they all like the kongs?

Thanx Jodi, I haven’t given them to them yet they are Christmas presents and I thought I might fill them and freeze them before wrapping so it might get the puppies intersted in opening presents if they smell something good inside, the big dogs don’t need help with that they know what presents are and they are very good at unwrapping ๐ I like that pineapple and yogurt idea, the big dogs love pineapple.

Sampson is funny – dropping his Kong at your feet! ๐

Sometimes they drop the kong to try and loosen up the frozen stuff inside, but it was just hysterical how he came out and then, THUNK.

So true! I used to always complain about Foxy hogging the bed (which she does) but one night, when she fell asleep in the living room, I had such a horrible sleep! I realized I couldn’t sleep without my sound machine – her snores!
& about the kong & that kong puppy fill – it is very difficult to get it all out! I would think that I’d have it all out but then find my dogs obsessively licking it, trying to get that last bit out!

Isn’t it crazy? I worked with a woman once who had so many food allergies she drank hot water for breakfast instead of coffee. When I said something to her about how I “could never get use to it” she said, “Jodi, my mother always said you can get use to hanging by a rope from your neck if you do it long enough.”
I guess we’ve slept with them so long we need them. ๐

Better hope Samson never gains or loses weight or you’ll be in trouble.
