Hubby and I were chatting in the car. I mentioned something about Sampson and how cute he was and Hubby said, “He kills me.”
Naturally I was puzzled, “What do you mean?” I asked.
“The way he ignores me,” was his response.
“Oh, he ignores me too,” I brushed it off.
“When I come home, he runs right to the back door to go out, when you come home he tears from wherever he is to the door to greet you.” He said.
It really is cute when he does it. Sampson has this little “RooooooooRooooooo” he does when he is excited or happy. I’ve been trying to capture it on video but each time I have the camera ready, he doesn’t do it. 🙁
I tried to appease him, “Well honey, I walk them almost every day, I give them lots of treats.”
“Yeah….I guess,” he said.
But secretly I smiled inside.
Is that wrong?
Seriously how can you not want that smile to be for you?

I’m the dog-mama in our house too, but I wish he was an equal-opportunity dog. Sadly, I’m the only one who really wants him. 🙁 (Well, the kids do too– but they’re too young to walk him alone.)
Jodi Stone says
I’m sorry, that must be very hard for you. I hate having to walk them alone, but it is Hubby’s choice and he will live with the consequences.
I don’t know what I would do if he didn’t care for them.
Hey, I’m alwyays here for venting purposes. 🙂
Donna and the Dogs says
Awwww…..poor hubby. 🙁
But yeah, it sure is nice when they come a runnin to see you.
Jodi Stone says
Yes it is Donna, I love the roos, and the smiles and of course the snuggles in bed at night. 🙂

I have a friend in the same situation… she walks them, she gives them treats, she plays with them, and he can’t understand why they like her better. Men!
Adorable pictures of Sampson!
Jodi Stone says
Because they don’t get the concept of the relationship. Sampson loves to go outside with Hubby but he needs to stay in the yard. But with Mom he gets to run and chase and sniff. Is there really any competition? LOL

Sampson is the cutest! It goes to show those that put in the time, energy, love, hugs, structure, …. are the ones they run for when the door knob turns. : )
Jodi Stone says
Yes it does. I just wish more people ‘got it.’
rumpydog says
Uh oh!
Jodi Stone says
I’m not really complaining. 🙂
2browndawgs says
Sampson sure is a cutie. Awe your hubby shouldn’t feel badly. I will always be #2 to the 2 brown dawgs because I don’t take them hunting. (But they do run to the door to greet me. ;))
Jodi Stone says
I’m pretty sure I would be in the same boat as you if Hubby were a hunter. 🙂
I don’t know why but we are two big mush balls when it comes to those dogs.

Butt See… Moms are fur Loving and giving Foodables… BUTT we SAVE the DADS… fur the SCARY STUFFS… DADS are VERY much impawtant… THEY keep us SAFE… THEY just don’t REALIZE it.
Jodi Stone says
Oh is that how it works? I admit I sometimes run to the daddy to keep me safe too. 🙂
sassykassy says
I was smiling inside for you [yah rah] so no, it’s not wrong! lol. Sometimes I must admit I get a little jealous of my hubby since he’s home all day with Molly it seems she prefers him to me. Then I get my own secret inside smile when she greets me at the door after work, follows me upstairs to change clothes, and jumps in my chair while we’re watching TV and won’t go to him when he calls her for a cuddle… [grin.] Plus he’s the meanie who wants to bathe her all the time; she comes running to hide behind me when she gets the idea he may be up to something with bathtime!
Jodi Stone says
LOL Kathy! I love you!! Thanks for backing me up. 🙂 I think this should just prove to the men that cuddling and nuturing wins everytime!
I do smile inside when they snug up against me or bug me for cuddles completely ignoring him. 🙂
I want to share I really do, but not my puppies. 😉
Bassas Blog says
It’s not wrong to smile inside! Even better to smile outside! It is lovely that you get the attention you deserve 🙂
Jodi Stone says
Thank you, although it is lovely to smile on the outside (it takes more muscles to frown) some smiles are best withheld from husbands. 😉
Kristine says
LOL. You two are funny. My husband and I are always arguing about who our dog likes best. He thinks I am her favourite and I think he is. Really, I do believe Shiva loves us both equally just in very different ways. The man is her favourite partner in play. He tugs harder and throws farther than I ever will. He revs her up and encourages her nutty behaviour. I like to think she comes to me when she needs reassurance or snuggles.
It’s not wrong to want to be your dog’s favourite. It’s just very human. 🙂 I am sure it’s the same with children.
Jodi Stone says
Oh I tell Hubby that he is Sampson’s favorite, but deep down I think I am. It is the true measure of equality if you both feel you are their favorite.
Both of my sisters (along with myself) will tell you that we each were are grandmother’s favorite. A true testament to that wonderful woman that she made each one of us feel so special. 🙂
Pamela says
It sounds like hubby needs a dog of his own to spoil and train.
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says
Oh my gosh I love that face, how adorable!
Tell hubby to rub some good smelling food substance all over him then they will come running 😉
Keep smiling inside 🙂
