Back To Normal…Day Three Hundred, Forty One

November 6, 2011 By Jodi

After seven nights and almost seven full days, we are back on the grid.  Our electricity is on!!

It was on when we got home last night and after turning the heat on and cleaning a few things we ran out to the grocery store for dog treats and I picked up a few things for breakfast.

It was so good to sleep in my bed last night and not have to wake up every two or three hours to load the fireplace or fight Delilah for my sleeping spot. 🙂

While sounds of chain saws and generators resonate outside, inside a different sound can be heard.

DUH-LIE-LAH…yes we are cooking inside again and Delilah is up to her old tricks.  She continues to evade my efforts to photograph her licking the pans on the stove even though I caught her there twice today, I just wasn’t quick enough with the camera.

She was kind enough to pose with what was left of the banana she stole this morning.  (Yes, it’s there, look closely at the wet mark on her pillow, you can just make out the stem.)

A bit later I wasn’t quite quick enough to photograph her licking the chicken wrappings in my make-shift garbage bag.

Yes things have returned to normal in Casa de Stone, but there are still almost 100,000 people in our state without power, so I won’t complain. 😉

So glad you have your power back and it seems Delilah is happy about it too. : )

Well we made the most of our situation and she is making the most of this! 🙂

It seems mighty suspicious–are you sure Delilah is the moocher you say she is? After all, that photographic evidence was pretty sketchy. 🙂

I’m surprised she left that much of the banana!! LOL

You will never casually turn on a light switch again after this experience. So glad it is over for you. We don’t appreciate modern life until it leaves us for a while.

That is so true Jan, we normally just take it for granted.

I was amazed at how many lights I ‘turned on’ just out of habit.

Hooray for normal! Glad you are back with power. You need a nanny cam in your kitchen to catch Delilah in the act. 🙂

Great idea!! I actually watched her cleaning the oil off a pan yesterday, I just didn’t have my camera with me.

Delilah I will come to your defense, thinking maybe it is a squirrel setting you up however if mom gets quicker with that camera you may need a really good attorney 😉

So glad you have power again.

Me too Misty! You can defend her until the cows come home, but I know that dog. 😉

Maybe closer than we want to be. LOL, no seriously, we know we can survive and provide for the dogs if the need arises.

Yikes! It sounds like I missed a big adventure while I was away. I hope all is well now and I am glad your power has been restored to you. Outages are only fun in the summer and only for a day. After that you just want to get on with things. I hope the entire state is back up and running soon!

Yes, while you were sleeping in and lunching at little pubs, we lost power for a week due to a early snowstorm that demolished our state. 🙂 You missed out on our camping in our house exploits. ;0

I’m not sure you missed a whole lot. LOL Pretty boring…
