I have a mish-mosh of thoughts running through my mind right now, so this post may seem a bit scattered.
Yesterday’s post about Lady Zabora and some comments resulting from it, really got me thinking. In the coming weeks/months I am going to begin thinking about how I can help rescue and protect animals. Whether it be by volunteering with my local Labs 4 Rescue group, Our Companions Animal Sanctuary or whether I will surf around the internet and find dogs like Lady Zabora and contribute to their care. Who knows maybe I will be working on all of the above!
I also really need to work on my Seven Links challenge presented to me by Just Ramblin’, this seems like a really big challenge to me, going through 275 posts to determine seven of the best! I hope to get some time this Labor Day weekend to work on this challenge.
Delilah has continued to thwart me with her off-leash behavior. Last night she ran off from the pack (we were walking with our friends Brady and Kodak) and was gone for at least 10 minutes; I think that is the longest she has been gone yet. Last night I dreamed I was walking with the dogs and chatting with someone when I realized I hadn’t seen the dogs in about 30 minutes, in the dream I began searching for them and found Sampson in someone’s fenced in yard. I woke up from the dream before I found Delilah. I wonder if this is my subconscious telling me something. In fact, I worry this is my subconscious telling me something! From now on, when we are in that area she is going on leash, no matter how many dogs we are with.
Today on our walk she ran off again in an entirely different place, this leads me to the conclusion she will have to be leashed all the time. 🙁
Just before she ran off, as we were exiting the woods we had an encounter….I heard it first, then I saw movement on the ground in front of me. I looked down and every hair on my body stood on end, I broke out in chills, screamed like a girl, grabbed Delilah and said, “Leave it!” pulled my camera out and….
It slithered into the leaves.
I beat feet.
Finally tomorrow **shudders** the dogs will be in control of the blog as they make their Prom Etiquette post in honor of the Labor Blog party. The blog will be published early in the morning for all of you attending their class.
I apologize now, because who knows what those two will come up with! I will be back in charge on Saturday and hope to post early again in anticipation of a blog hop. Does anyone know of anyone hosting a Saturday blog hop?

Yikes, not a fan of snakes! Sorry to hear Delilah is running off like that. My husband said he is going to probably put a bell on Storm for Grouse season because she gets so deep in the brush hunting birds. She will recall with a whistle and of course the e-collar for insurance, but he wants a better idea of her location. It can be panic time when you can’t see your dog.
There are guys who run hounds up around out cabin. They have collars on those dogs which have GPS! They know exactly where the dogs are at all times even though the dogs may be a half mile or more ahead of their handlers.
Can’t wait to see the Prom Etiquette post.

I hate snakes too!
I love the idea of a bell, that might make me feel better. It’s funny she’s good to a certain point, always coming back, checking in, then BOOM, she’s gone!
I hesitate to put an e-collar on her because believe it or not she is a very sensitive dog! I am afraid of what it might do to her.
GPS OMG what will they think of next!

Love the photo!
Okay 2browndawgs explained it to me but I guess I am still not getting the blog hop, what is Prom Etiquette, wordless wednesday and all the other assorted special posts I see bloggers doing, how do I get the info and where, help please for the newbie blogger!
Jodi Stone says
I’ll try, but I’m still learning too! A blog hop is a link that is posted on the “hosts” blog, when you click on it you get a ‘code’ which you insert into your post for that day. That links all the participating blogs to your blog, depending on where you host (WordPress won’t do that, you will just see a link to take you to a page) but everyone that is “hopping” has a little icon on the page, that way you can check out a bunch of different blogs.
As for the themes, every Wednesday is called Wordless Wednesday, on that day you post only pictures (if you choose to participate, you certainly don’t have to) sometimes people will put nothing, or a caption or a little blurb. I don’t because I am challenging myself to write everyday. There is also something called Sunday Stills but usually there is a theme to that, it is still pictures but the theme might be blue or the letter c. etc…Just Ramblin usually participates so if you check out her blog she will let you know what the theme is for that day.
As for the Prom Etiquette, there is a Labor Blog Party hosted by Frankie Furter, it is a bunch of blogs doing a back to school theme. There is also a Pawm (Prom) for the puppies (theoreticaly) and our blog is giving the do’s and don’t’s for prom. Hope that helps, if you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me auntiejodi@hotmail.com

First a response to your question about Saturday blog hops: The biggest blog hop is the Pet Blogger Hop held every Saturday. It’s sponsored by Life with Dogs, My 2 Little Cavaliers, and Nip and Bones.
Here’s a link to last Saturday’s page: http://www.lifewithdogs.tv/category/pet-blogger-hop/
They start the linking after Friday midnight so by the time I post at 5 a.m. on Saturday, there are already 30 or so people ahead of me.
I remember how frustrating it was to figure this stuff out when I first started. And it took me months to figure out why I couldn’t link in when I was hosted by WordPress.
Isn’t it amazing what we can learn if we just keep at it?
Good luck with Delilah’s ramblings. Some dogs just won’t stay with you no matter what. It’s a lie that every dog can be trained to do everything. You’ll have to decide what kind of risks you’re willing to take. 🙂

You are very savvy with this stuff my dear, I do appreciate all your assistance. The last time I participated I just googled blog hop, eventually I found it! But thanks, that helps a lot.
I worry more about her getting hurt or bothering somebody than anything else, she’s not the brightest dog and will eat just about anything!
