Well Irene is gone. We did survive, with lots of downed leaves and some small branches, but no loss of trees and no loss of electricity. We were very blessed because there are still over 400,000 without power in this state. 🙁
We had lots of rain and lots wind from about 5:30 am to 12:00 pm; the dogs never even thought of going outside. They were quite content to lay around and enjoy a lazy day. There was no way they were going out in that rain….unless we were hiking. 😉
It got very calm shortly after noon and I debated whether I should risk it and take them out for a walk. I waited and waited; finally about 3:30 I said, “Let’s go.” I called my walking buddy and we headed out.
The park had lots of leaves and small branches down as well.
Due to all the rain, their favorite ‘puddle’ was back, so they enjoyed a little romp through the water with their pal, Brady.
We wandered the woods for about 45 minutes and then headed home.
Sometime around 7:00 pm the wind came back; with a vengeance. At one point it got so loud, the dogs tore outside to see what the commotion was. I decided it was best not to sleep in our room again, so the dogs and I camped out in the spare room, while Hubby took the scrapbook room.
When we went for our walk today, we found a lot of fallen trees from the evening wind.
We went this way yesterday and these trees weren’t down then.
We didn’t mind, we were grateful to be out enjoying our favorite park, letting the sweet smell of nature wash away the storms of yesterday.

Glad to hear all is safe in your neck of the woods.
Love the video and how Sampson puts his head under the water, very cool 🙂
Jodi Stone says
Misty, he ALWAYS does that and I don’t know why. It cracks me up.

Glad to hear you made it through. I guess Irene was good for something seeing as it brought back the dawgs’ favorite puddle. The video was a lot of fun to watch.
Jodi Stone says
Thanks. The dawgs were grateful to Irene for the puddle, but not being displaced from their bedroom. 😉

Glad to see you made it through okay!

Thank you!

Isn’t that smell of nature after a storm fantastic? I have been enjoying a regular cornucopia of good nature smells lately…seems the nose wakes up, the more attention I give to its gifts!
That is one fun puddle! My Fozzie likes to stick his whole nose under the water, though not usually his whole head!
Jodi Stone says
Oh I love the smell of the forest after a rain storm, the earth, the trees, the grass. It is heaven to my nose.
Sampson is weird, I don’t know when he started that but it looks like he is bobbing for apples. 😉

oh that video was so cute!
