Shortly after Delilah joined our pack in 2007, we put our house on the market. Shortly after we put our house on the market Delilah went into season. No-one was more surprised than we were, as she had been presented to us as spayed.
The kitchen seemed the logical place to keep her when we were gone, since the floor was linoleum, there wasn’t any cloth furniture and we had a 3-foot door, which we could latch.
As this wasn’t something we had expected, I had to go out to the pet store and get the necessary supplies. Delilah hated wearing the panties. The first day we left her, she ripped the panties off, jumped the gate and went upstairs and lay in our bed.
I had some bar stools with high backs. The stools were 36 inches, with a 12 inch back; making the complete height of the stool about 48 inches. I shut and locked the gate, and placed the stools in front of the gate with the backs facing the kitchen.
Delilah jumped the gate and the stools and went back to her favorite spot on the couch. Thankfully she left the panties on.
The next day I locked the gate, placed the stools in front of the gate with the seat facing the kitchen and left for work.
My cell phone rang, it was Lynn, “I walked in the door just in time to see Delilah sail over the chairs.”
Shortly after Delilah came into season, we took our house off the market.

HaHa, yes the girls do not enjoy wearing the panties!
The first time Riva had to wear them she walked very stiff legged in the rear, it was quite the sight.

LOL, she didn’t walk stiff legged but she hated wearing it; and I can’t say as I blamed her!

You didn’t make the mistake of letting Delilah watch “Marley and Me”, did you?
Jodi says
Hell no! I won’t watch it, and I wouldn’t let her either.

Poor Delilah, first she was made to wear those unfashionable panties and then she was locked in the kitchen. I guess she was having none of that. 🙂
None of those panties fit Storm because her hip/legs are so muscular. We use boy’s unddies (just as unfashionable as the panties…lol).

Now I read somewhere that you don’t need to do anything for them because they will clean it up themselves, that wasn’t my experience though!
I’ve never seen the boys unddies and didn’t even know they made them! Does she hate wearing them?
2browndawgs says
They do clean it up. We really only put the unddies on when Storm is out on carpet where it could be a mess. But in her crate, she is au natural. We also have a room she stays in (so she doesn’t have to be always in the crate). We put a temp carpet over the real carpet. She doesn’t wear them in there. We use boy’s white unddies (size medium I think), and turn them around so her tail comes out the fly. (That tip thanks to Thunder’s breeder.) She isn’t fond of any clothes aside from her hunting vest. 🙂

This reminds me when our girl Sheba went into season–At the time we had a 14 year old un-neutered Golden and our boy Charlie had just been neutered. It was hormone overload, and I ended up asking a friend to take the 14 year old who I thought was going to have a nervous breakdown. There was no stopping those hormones which were fully engaged and VERY determined! 🙂 Thankfully we all got through it.
PS: I’m still in therapy from when we sold our house 4 years ago!
Jodi Stone says
Oh Kim, I don’t know how you did it. Thankfully Sampson was neutered and it didn’t seem to affect him in the least. I kept waiting for the dogs to be howling around the house but it didn’t happen, we were very lucky.
Selling your house is difficult, it is just a very stressful time. It seems like you have a beautiful area where you are now, hopefully that helps. 🙂
Thank you for the comment!
