I got this beautiful scarf for a gift this past Christmas.
Re-purposed cashmere scarf
There was a note attached that said, this scarf is made from re-purposed cashmere, and I thought what the hell is re-purposed cashmere? Turns out it is a fancy word for recycled. The scarf was made from a sweater that was cut down and then decorated. It is a beautiful scarf and I absolutely love it and I wear it all the time.

Who's a pretty girl?
Whoever had her before us, bred her and then cast her away. We were lucky enough to get her, I call her my second-hand rose. She brings so much joy and laughter to our life that I could never put a price on it.
After yesterday’s Pet Writing Conference, I am repurposed! I feel refreshed and ready to tackle this writing career again! I may not be tackling it (right now) by trying to publish my book, but I am ready to tackle this blogging thing. I am re-purposed! Re-purposed, recycled, refreshed, no matter what word you put to it, it means the same thing. We; the scarf, Delilah and myself all have a new purpose in life and I for one am happy for all three of us.
UPDATE
Remember my post on tags? Well today Delilah went over the fence. I let them out and they were outside for a while which is unusual with all the snow we have. So I went out and I called them, here comes Sampson but no Delilah. So I start looking around and calling, and I look over at that spot on the fence and sure enough…there were paw prints! Luckily for us she only wandered next door, and Chet saw her from the front porch and called her and she came right home! Guess what Chet did this afternoon? Yup, he cleared that snow away from the fence.

In so many ways I feel repurposed too. Once I realized I needed to do something for my childs ADHD I knew our life as a family needed to change. I repurposed my self not only as a mother but as an advocate for my son’s health. Now our life is full of good, healthy food that at the same time controls his adhd outbursts but it also has brought the family to rethink what goes into our bodies.
I am so happy you have taken a positive outlook on this new journey of yours and you will see it will be fruitful!
Lilliana I am so proud of you. Not many moms would repurpose themselves (and their family) the way you have. I KNOW that Isaac will be fine because I know YOU! You rock!!

e same thing – except our snow is too icy and compact to actually clear out – and too many feet of fence to clear too – its basically our entire yard they can get out of – We’ve just stopped leaving them out without checking on them constantly.

I caught her looking over the top of the fence (honestly she was standing on the snow and her head was over the 4 foot fence!) but she hasn’t gone over again since he cleared the snow. She is the one to worry about because she weighs less than Sampson (he sinks) and she can jump! She just has to figure this out and then, watch out world!
Well I might, but Isaac I know wants a puppy.
Puppies can be rescued. 🙂
Jodi, I am also a dog lover, although with my experiences through the years with German shepards and large terrier & labs mixes, I found that now I’m more able to handle small breeds better, long before they became the latest Hollywood accessory. My life isn’t complete without a dog, they are so precious in so many ways, and of course, very mischievous! As aggrevating at that is, it always comes down to, oh hell its like punishing a 3 year old. Gotta love them no matter what! We got Molly a mini “Cong” -you put Cong dog treats [including peanut butter] inside and it keeps them occupied for hours trying to get them out, and the Cong is practically indestructable. Plus they bounce in a wacky unpredictable way that makes them even more fun.
Kathy, we have kongs too, but I have stopped filling them, I wonder why? I may have to break those bad boys out again!!
I loved this post! I could relate a great deal to your Delilah stories. We love our “re-purposed” dog as well. =) He happens to jump the fence on a regular basis and he is 8 years old! =) Thanks for sharing.
